I will be teaching a musical theatre workshop for Tokyo International Players in August. I plan to look at some of the vocal techniques that can be used across the various genres that are prevalent in contemporary musicals.
In the first week I plan to cover:
Introduction to contemporary styles
Consistency throughout the range of the song
High notes - mix / belt / falsetto
Contemporary stylisms
Vocal health and athletic techniques
In the second week, after a warm-up, each of the students will bring a song that they work on.
When: Saturday, August 14th 1pm-4pm & August 21st 1pm-5pm (JST)
Where: Zoom meeting
Tickets: ¥2000
Materials needed: A device on which you can access Zoom. A musical theatre song that you want to work on. You can sing the song a cappella or play a backing track.
